CUO Credit Cards
New cards with embedded chips.
Credit Union of Ohio is excited to offer enhancements to their credit cards that will provide you with more security.
All members will soon receive their new credit card that has the latest EMV chip technology.
Here are some questions you may have:
Why do the Credit cards have an embedded chip?
The embedded chip provides you with an added layer of security when used at chip enabled terminals, providing greater protection against fraud. The cards enhanced security features make it harder for criminals to commit fraud.
Many countries are already using chip technology which provides you with wider acceptance when traveling abroad.
How does the card work?
Retailers across the U.S. have begun the transition of updating their payment terminals to chip card readers. You will notice that the payment process works differently. Instead of swiping your card, you will insert your card at the bottom of the machine. The screen will provide you with prompts to make it an easy process.
For retailers who haven't updated their terminals, you will simply swipe your card.
Do I still need to sign the back of my card?
Yes, it's important that you sign the back of your card for security purposes.
How does my new card work for online and phone transactions?
Your card will still work the same as it does today for those transactions.
Why is this for cuo credit cards only?
We are currently working to update the debit cards, but unfortunately at this time we don't know the timeline of when this will happen.
